Bentley has announced the appointment of Wolfgang Dürheimer as its new chairman and chief executive officer. He will also head up Bugatti, as did predecessor, Franz-Josef Paefgen. Dürheimer, who joins Bentley from Porsche where he headed the research and development team, will start his new role at Crewe on 1 February 2011.
The Mercedes-Benz S-Class is unofficially known as the best car in the world… and the firm has now revealed the model that could make that title official – the new V12-engined long-wheelbase S 600 range-topper. Boasting a 530hp 6.0-litre biturbo V12, the new S 600 can accelerate from 0-62mph in just 4.6 seconds… but, thanks to ECO stop/start, it can also average over 25mpg, a 21% improvement on the old car. But now, after more than 14,000 Gallardos have been built, the curtain has come down on Lamborghini’s most successful model ever with the last Gallardo – a Gallardo LP 570-4 Spyder Performante - rolling off the production line in Sant’Agata Bolognese. The Rosso Mars Lamborghini Gallardo LP 570-4 Spyder Performante is now off to join the collection of a wealthy car nut as the last ever Gallardo to be built, and Lamborghini are now heading swiftly towards the Gallardo’s replacement – expected to be the Lamborghini Cabrera.
